Jon Talkington, 36, of New Martinsville, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to soliciting child pornography. Authorities were alerted after a social media platform sent a cyber tip to law enforcement about suspected child pornography activity. Investigators found that Talkington had uploaded images and videos of child pornography to the platform in an effort to obtain more material from other users.

Talkington could face between five and twenty years in federal prison. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge, who will take into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David Perri is prosecuting the case for the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the West Virginia State Police conducted the investigation. U.S. Magistrate Judge James P. Mazzone presided over the proceedings.
