Randy Price, a 52-year-old resident of Wayne, West Virginia, has been sentenced to eight years and one month in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentence also includes three years of supervised release.

Court records show that on July 16, 2019, Price was stopped by law enforcement while driving in Charleston. He attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended. Officers found a Raven Arms MP-25 .25-caliber pistol in his vehicle.

Federal law bars individuals with felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition. Price had previous felony convictions for involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery from Cuyahoga County, Ohio, dated June 28, 2002. He was aware that these convictions prohibited him from having a firearm.

United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the sentencing and recognized the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Charleston Police Department. “United States Attorney Moore Capito made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Charleston Police Department.”

The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin. Assistant United States Attorneys JC MacCallum and Negar M. Kordestani prosecuted the case.
