Melanie E. Hussain, a 25-year-old resident of Crab Orchard, has been sentenced to five years of federal probation for distributing fentanyl. Her sentence includes six months of home detention.
Court documents reveal that on November 2, 2022, Hussain sold approximately 4.2 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant for $300. The following day, she sold 2.3 grams of methamphetamine to the same informant for another $300. Both transactions took place at her residence in Crab Orchard.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised the efforts of the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit in this case. This unit is comprised of officers from the West Virginia State Police, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and Beckley Police Department.
Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk delivered the sentence, while Assistant United States Attorney Brian D. Parsons handled the prosecution.
