Aaron Lee Mitter, a 39-year-old resident of Parkersburg, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for distributing methamphetamine.
Court documents state that on July 11, 2024, Mitter sold about 24.52 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $280. During his guilty plea, Mitter acknowledged this sale. He also admitted to selling an unregistered privately made firearm, known as a “ghost gun,” along with a magazine capable of holding 45 rounds of ammunition for $400 on the same day.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant on July 17, 2024, at an apartment in Parkersburg where Mitter was staying. Officers found approximately 45.67 grams of methamphetamine during the search. Mitter admitted he planned to use some of the drugs and distribute the rest.
Mitter’s criminal record includes previous convictions for domestic battery, breaking and entering, burglary, and theft.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin imposed the sentence. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney JC MacCallum.
