Aaron Lee Mitter, a 39-year-old resident of Parkersburg, has pleaded guilty to the federal crime of distributing methamphetamine. According to court records and statements, Mitter sold around 24.52 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant on July 11, 2024, for $280. He also admitted to selling an unregistered firearm known as a “ghost gun” and a magazine capable of holding 45 rounds for $400 on the same day.
On July 17, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at an apartment in Parkersburg where Mitter was staying. During the search, officers seized approximately 45.67 grams of methamphetamine. Mitter confessed his intent to use some of the drugs and distribute the rest.
Mitter is scheduled for sentencing on September 22, 2025. He faces up to 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, who praised the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, and the Parkersburg Police Department.
United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin oversaw the hearing with Assistant United States Attorney JC MacCallum prosecuting.
