Remington Colt Arnold, a 34-year-old resident of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm. The sentencing took place in Martinsburg.

Court records show that officers from the West Virginia State Police were executing a parole violation warrant at a residence when they encountered Arnold. The homeowner granted police entry into the home, where Arnold was found asleep with a pistol nearby. After arresting Arnold, law enforcement conducted a search and discovered ammunition inside a backpack. Due to previous convictions for assault and grand larceny, Arnold is legally barred from owning or possessing firearms.

The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eleanor Hurney. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the West Virginia State Police led the investigation into the case.

U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the proceedings.
