Fred Bolden, a 61-year-old resident of Morgantown, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to failing to update his sex offender registration after moving from Ohio to West Virginia in 2023. Court records show that Bolden is required to register as a sex offender for life due to a previous rape conviction in Ohio.

Bolden did not update his registration upon relocating, which is required by law. He now faces up to 10 years in federal prison. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David Perri. The United States Marshals Service conducted the investigation, and U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over the proceedings.
