Michigan man pleads guilty to methamphetamine distribution charges in West Virginia

Demonte Jovon Walker, 26, from Pontiac, Michigan, pleaded guilty to a federal charge of distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The plea was entered in Huntington, West Virginia.

Court records indicate that on October 24, 2024, Walker sold about 83 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $450. He admitted that he had arranged the sale in advance and carried it out inside the informant’s vehicle in Huntington.

Walker also acknowledged involvement in other drug sales. On October 2 and October 17, 2024, he sold approximately 56 grams and 55 grams of methamphetamine respectively to a confidential informant for $300 each time. Additionally, on October 9, 2024, Walker arranged for another individual to sell around 50 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $300 in Huntington.

Walker is scheduled for sentencing on March 16, 2025. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years and could receive up to life imprisonment. Other possible penalties include at least five years of supervised release and a fine that could reach $10 million.

United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the plea agreement and recognized the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Cabell County Sheriff’s Office for their investigative work.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney before United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers.
