Filmel Williams, a 64-year-old resident of Harper Woods, Michigan, has pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl in Lumberport, West Virginia. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Matthew L. Harvey.
Court records indicate that Williams was involved in the illegal distribution of fentanyl within the state. He could face up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider both the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and additional statutory factors.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Cogar. The investigation was led by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, which is supported through HIDTA funding.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over the proceedings.
