Joseph William Alfred, also known as “Chris,” was sentenced to 132 months in federal prison for methamphetamine distribution and firearms offenses, according to United States Attorney Matthew L. Harvey.
Alfred, age 51, was convicted by a jury in July 2025 on charges including distributing five grams or more of methamphetamine, attempted possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm, and failure to appear.
Authorities intercepted a package from California addressed to Alfred that contained over two pounds of methamphetamine. A search at his home led to the discovery of additional controlled substances, a firearm, ammunition, $2,156 in cash, and drug paraphernalia. Due to a prior felony drug conviction, Alfred is not permitted to possess firearms.
Alfred violated conditions of his pre-trial release while under home confinement with electronic monitoring by failing to appear for a pretrial conference in April 2024 in federal district court.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Clayton Reid and Carly Nogay prosecuted the case. The investigation involved the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force—a HIDTA-funded initiative—the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the United States Postal Service. U.S. District Judge Thomas E. Johnston presided over the proceedings.
