Tayron Jerome Griffin, a 24-year-old from Huntington, has entered a guilty plea for possession with intent to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine. This plea was made in federal court following the execution of a search warrant at his residence on March 4, 2025.
During the search, law enforcement discovered approximately 617 grams of methamphetamine in Griffin’s bedroom nightstand and an additional 8 grams in a kitchen drawer. The authorities also seized drug trafficking paraphernalia and $1,648 in cash from the premises. Griffin admitted that the methamphetamine was intended for distribution and acknowledged that the cash was derived from drug sales. He further confessed to possessing three loaded firearms found during the search: a Romarm Cugir Model Mini Draco pistol, a Smith & Wesson Shield pistol, and a Glock 20 pistol.
In addition to these charges, Griffin admitted to selling drugs on three separate occasions at his home to a confidential informant. These transactions included sales of methamphetamine and cocaine between February 21 and February 28, 2025.
Griffin is due for sentencing on October 14, 2025. He faces significant penalties including a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison with the possibility of life imprisonment, along with at least five years of supervised release and up to $10 million in fines.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the developments while commending efforts by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), as well as local law enforcement agencies involved in this case.
The hearing was overseen by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers. Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney is leading the prosecution.
