Robert Lee Taylor, 44, of Huntington, was sentenced to three years and five months in prison for possession with intent to distribute heroin and for violating the terms of his supervised release. He will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.
Court records state that on March 19, 2025, law enforcement officers searched a residence in Huntington after obtaining consent. During the search, they found about 104 grams of heroin, digital scales, and packaging materials in a storage tote on the back deck. Taylor admitted he possessed the heroin with intent to distribute it. He also admitted to selling approximately seven grams of heroin for $491 to a confidential informant at the same location one day before the search.
During the execution of a search warrant at Taylor’s home on March 19, officers seized around $8,661. Taylor acknowledged that this money came from selling heroin.
At the time of these offenses, Taylor was already on supervised release following a previous conviction for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl in United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia on May 1, 2023. The new sentence includes eight months specifically for committing another crime while under supervised release.
“Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Violent Crime and Drug Task Force West.”
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed Taylor’s sentence. Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney prosecuted the case.
