Huntington man sentenced to over eight years for drug distribution

Curtis Lavall Capers, a 36-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has been sentenced to eight years and nine months in federal prison. This will be followed by three years of supervised release. The sentence was imposed for the distribution of fentanyl and a mixture containing methamphetamine.

Court documents reveal that on December 15, 2022, Capers sold fentanyl and methamphetamine to a confidential informant at a residence on 7th Avenue in Huntington. Capers admitted to the transaction and acknowledged arranging it with the informant beforehand.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, who praised the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for their investigative work. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers. Assistant United States Attorneys Stephanie Taylor and Joseph F. Adams prosecuted the case.
