Semaj Markes Leondre Figg, a 33-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has been sentenced to five years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. The sentencing is for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine base, commonly referred to as “crack.”
The incident leading to Figg’s arrest occurred on February 9, 2024. Law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on 11th Avenue in Huntington. Upon arrival, officers arrested Figg due to an outstanding warrant. A search of the premises led to the discovery of approximately 30 grams of crack, 54 grams of fentanyl, a Glock 22C pistol, and a Ruger-5.7 pistol. Figg confessed his intention to sell the drugs.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the sentencing and praised the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with the Huntington Police Department for their investigative efforts.
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers handed down the sentence while Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), which aims to reduce synthetic opioid supply in heavily affected regions.
