Robert Craig Hatfield, also known as “Bobby,” a 48-year-old resident of Huntington, was sentenced to five years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for carrying a firearm during and in relation to the distribution of fentanyl.

Court documents and statements presented in court indicate that on February 11, 2025, Hatfield sold a SCCY 9mm pistol along with approximately 4.5 grams of heroin to a confidential informant for $340. The transaction took place at Hatfield’s residence in Huntington, and he admitted both to arranging and conducting the sale.

United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the sentencing and acknowledged the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office. United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers handed down the sentence, while Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Taylor prosecuted the case.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime,” according to information provided by authorities.
