Marcus Allen Johnson, also known as “Mook,” pleaded guilty on Mar. 23 to distributing 40 grams or more of fentanyl in Huntington, West Virginia.
Johnson, age 41, admitted in court that he sold approximately 56.68 grams of a mixture containing fentanyl to a confidential informant for $2,500 on January 28, 2025. He also acknowledged arranging the transaction beforehand as part of his plea agreement.
Sentencing for Johnson is set for July 20, and he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to forty years in prison. The court may also impose at least four years of supervised release and a fine reaching $5 million.
United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the plea and recognized the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office in investigating the case. United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the hearing while Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams prosecuted.
The prosecution is part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), which aims to reduce supplies of synthetic opioids in areas with high impact from such drugs.
