Wilson Geovanny Nunez, a 36-year-old Honduran citizen residing illegally in the United States, pleaded guilty to reentry of a removed alien and was sentenced to seven months in prison. Following his sentence, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will transfer him to administrative custody for removal proceedings.

Court documents reveal that Nunez was arrested on December 29, 2024, during a traffic stop in Hurricane, West Virginia. ICE agents confirmed Nunez’s illegal status and noted he had been deported from the United States six times previously. He lacked identification granting legal status in the country.

Nunez’s previous removals from the U.S. occurred on February 28, 2014; June 9, 2014; July 5, 2018; April 8, 2020; November 8, 2020; and June 2, 2021. He was convicted of illegal reentry of a removed alien by the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia on April 14, 2021.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the sentencing and praised ICE’s investigative work. The hearing was presided over by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers with Assistant United States Attorney Erik S. Goes prosecuting.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration and related criminal activities through coordinated efforts by the Department of Justice.
