Harrison County man receives 92-month sentence for insurance fraud scheme

Jessie Levi Pumphrey, a 31-year-old resident of Clarksburg, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 92 months in federal prison for insurance fraud. The sentencing took place in Clarksburg.

Court documents and statements presented during the proceedings indicated that Pumphrey collaborated with others to stage vehicle accidents in Preston County. These staged incidents led to the submission of false insurance claims for property damage and medical expenses.

The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Cogar. The investigation into the case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner – Office of Inspector General. Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case.
