William Joseph Russell, a 51-year-old resident of Clarksburg, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl and p-Fluorofentanyl in Harrison County. The plea was entered in federal court.
Court documents state that Russell sold both substances within the county. He now faces a possible sentence ranging from one year to forty years in federal prison. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge, who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney William Rhee is handling the prosecution for the government. The investigation was conducted by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, which operates as part of a HIDTA-funded initiative.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over the proceedings.
