Allen Lation Baird, a 48-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, received a prison sentence of six years and six months for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine. Following his prison term, he will undergo three years of supervised release.

The case dates back to May 3, 2023, when law enforcement arrested Baird on an outstanding warrant in Michigan. During the arrest, officers discovered approximately 56 grams of fentanyl and 14 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. Baird admitted that he intended to deliver these substances to another individual.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston acknowledged the efforts of the Huntington Police Department and the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force in their investigation. The sentencing was delivered by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers, while Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney led the prosecution.

This legal action is part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), an initiative focused on reducing synthetic opioid distribution in areas heavily impacted by drug-related activities.
