Emmitt Renand Richardson, a 52-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, has been convicted on six counts related to methamphetamine and fentanyl distribution following a four-day federal trial in Clarksburg, West Virginia. According to court records and statements presented during the proceedings, Richardson led an organization that sold and distributed methamphetamine in Harrison County.
Richardson is facing a minimum of five years and up to 40 years in prison for five of the charges. The remaining charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines along with other legal factors.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrew Cogar and Will Rhee represented the government in prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, which operates as part of a HIDTA-funded initiative. Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh oversaw the trial.
