Jazmir Tyheem Young, a 24-year-old resident of Beckley, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for distributing more than five grams of methamphetamine and an amount of fentanyl.

Court records show that on April 1, 2024, Young sold the drugs to a confidential informant in a parking lot on Harper Road in Beckley. As part of his guilty plea, Young admitted to making the sale.

Young has two prior felony convictions and was on probation for a state offense when this crime occurred.

United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the sentence and praised the work of the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit. The unit includes officers from the West Virginia State Police, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, and Beckley Police Department.

Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk handed down the sentence. Assistant United States Attorney D. Keith Randolph prosecuted the case.
