Daniela Marie Giancoli, a 35-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, has been sentenced to 150 months in federal prison for her involvement in supplying fentanyl to dealers in West Virginia. The sentencing took place in Elkins, West Virginia.
Court documents and statements revealed that Giancoli collaborated with Michael Matthews from their apartment in Baltimore to distribute drugs to over ten dealers located in Grant County, West Virginia. The investigation led to the seizure of nearly 9,000 fentanyl pills weighing more than two kilograms.
Following her prison term, Giancoli will be subject to three years of supervised release. Her co-defendant, Matthews, had previously pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 100 months in prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner on behalf of the government. The Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, funded by HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas), conducted the investigation. Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the proceedings.
